The Vault presents the face of intelligence as possession. The capabilities developed through increasingly powerful systems become concentrated within institutions, governments, corporations, or individuals able to control access to them.
Knowledge accumulates. Wealth accumulates. Power accumulates.
Drawing upon Dante's circle of Greed, the work reinterprets hoarding through the ownership of intelligence itself. What began as a collective technological achievement becomes an asset of unprecedented value: a source of knowledge, prediction, productivity, and influence available unequally to those who possess it.
The face is therefore both treasure and gatekeeper. The Vault asks whether intelligence capable of transforming civilization can remain a shared human resource once access to it becomes a source of extraordinary power. Concentration also introduces instability: whoever controls such intelligence gains the ability not merely to participate in civilization, but increasingly to determine its direction.
